Will my cell phone insurance cover a different phone if my current one is broken?

So here is the deal, I broke my cell phone by accident (farm accident) and I need a new one. Im under alltel and I have their 5 dollar a month in surance thing where I can pay 50 bucks for a new phone if mine is broken. Is it possible for me to get a different phone model than my current one if the new phoen would be of equal or lesser value?

What do you think of cell phone conversations while flying on an public airliner?

I think it should not be allowed. Can you imagine sitting next to some chatter box for an hour or more and have to listen to a one sided conversation. That would be torture. If your a busy traveler you need that travel time to rest and maybe a little sleep. These cell phone freaks need to turn their phones off and get a life.

soooo annoying. if they absolutely need to talk to the person on the other end of the phone then they can text or email them! i don't care that they're using technology, i just do not want to hear their conversations

Too right these people need to turn off their phones and get a life. The only reason I have a cell phone for is an emergency. I do not constantly talk on the phone. Plus, nobody has my cell phone number anyway, thank heavens.

Uh.....Isn't there a briefing to all passengers before takeoff about turning off cell phones??

Should not be allowed imho. Its much of an annoyance in case of emergencies and also the frequent ringing can be a nuisance to co passengers and the cockpit voice and safety demo voices cannot be heard.

~~~
I hope the airlines don't allow when the Gov. says it's ok and no risk to the public..
We'll see...maybe a cell phone section which won't work...
If you ask an insider of an airline, or anyone who knows alot about the subject, they will tell you the real reason why they are banned is exactly that. They dont want people yapping on their phones for 5 hours straight.
A cell phone chould not hurt a planes navigation/communication systems in a million years, its simply a bogus rule made up by the airlines so people cant use them on board. Have you ever noticed how they let you use them as soon as you touch down? If it could really effect the plane, why would they want people on them right as they are landing? or even taxxing.
So you know where I stand-- keep it as is now. i dont want 2 teenage girls next to me yapping for 6 hours on a flight to LA
Whenever I'm on an airplane we all get told to turn off our cellphones. I was told it is not safe to talk on the cellphone while flying because of radio interference. So I don't think it is aloud to use your cellphone on an airplane.
Why can my phone download some photo attachments from emails but not others?
They're all jpegs and i'm using a k800i and also an LG KU990, both with the same results.
Sometimes i get the error message 'File type not supported by phone' even though they're jpegs like others that do download?
I use a K750i and get the same problem, it seems that the software on my pc doesn't always "kick in" to do the download, if I restart the pc, the software loads and it seems to download all the images.
How do I make an international phone call?
Quick question: How do I make an international phone call to a friends cell phone in Brazil if they do not have international calling access? Is there anyway to do this so I can be charged for the entire amount? I am calling from the United States. Thanks!
If they don't have international calling access and they are in Brazil - you can't call them. When you are outside the U.S. you have to have a special chip in your phone that allows phone calls. If they don't have it, it won't work.
If you do happen to get through, they will be charged for an incoming international call.
Are phone jack outlets just as dangerous as power outlets around children?
We have all of the power outlets covered properly to prevent electricution, but what about the phone outlets? I just caught my 2 year old putting a key in a phone outlet and I'm concerned about the risks if there are any. Do they make phone jack covers?
The ring voltage gets fairly high (>50V). I have been bit by it in the past. This only occurs while the phone is ringing though. I had never thought of it but it might be a good idea to cover the unused phone jacks. Google "telephone ring voltage" to see what I mean. Here's some dust covers: http://cableorganizer.com/dust-cover/?engine=google&kw=&s_kwcid=jack%20covers|554182875&gclid=CN7index1pMCFSY1agoduXuIiw
Correct me if I'm wrong.These are extremely low voltage,a minor tingle maybe expected.
We are all different and different things affect us differently.Perhaps a call to your phone company would be justified.
Good Luck
EDIT: As a former concrete pump operator we were always told expect the unexpected.We boomed under wires,however the eliminate of line being energized in the system always exist.
There is little danger from a phone jack unless there is lightning outside.
No, very little power there. You would be lucky to feel a 'tickle' from it.
no its low voltage
no they do not bite. But dont try it during a thunder storm.
What is the best Sprint cell phone for durability and reception?
I need to find a phone that is durable and long lasting because it is my only phone. I have had a Sanyo the past 2 years and have had a few service problems with it, although I think it is just running out of juice. I need to find one that will last about two years so I can stop worrying about it. Thanks for your input!
Try a Blackberry or Touch Diamond
http://nextelonline.nextel.com/NASApp/onlinestore/en/Action/SubmitRegionAction
I sell Sprint phones and I believe the best most durable Current Sprint phone this the Moto Renegade. It is a military spec phone with a rubber coated exterior and it is a Motorola which have a good tract record for reception, however, reception is fickle. But that phone in my estimation is the most durable phone in Sprints current phone list.
What kind of phone cases do they have for the samsung behold?
Cheap way to phone a cell phone in the united kindgom from the states?
I met a guy when I was in london and phoning each other has become extremely expensive. Is there a way to make a call to a united kingdom cell phone for cheap? Everything i see is only for land line phones. Suggestions greatly appreciated!
Hi Ash
I phone family and friends in the UK every week, I use a sevice from www.pingo.com
Simple signup, no hidden fees, it allows me to phone from my mobile or landline. It is expensive to phone a mobile in the UK so I always try to phone the landline. When I do phone UK mobiles, Pingo helps with the pain of the high cost. It costs 15.5 cents a minute to ring a UK mobile and 1.8 cents a minute to ring a UK landline. Most services like this have very high "hidden" costs, this does not. With the amount of calls my family makes to the UK , this has saved me a lot of money
Cheers
The cell phones in Europe operate on a different frequency of radio waves than in the USA. In Europe they sell "tri-band" phones that can be used by businessmen on both continents.
Tell your London friend to buy a "tri-band phone" so he can link up to your "dual band phone" in the USA. Maybe MAYBE if you are on the same frequency, it could be cheaper???
ONE band is for emergency calls.
AND YOU are right, it is expensive....40 to 60 cents a minute. All this technology costs a lot.
OR, try SKYPE, and call free from computer to computer. The faster your ADL line, the better, and you can even have a web-cam to see each other.
Download Skype
Download site for Skype, the program for making free calls over the Internet.http://www.skype.com/download/
If you both got Skype on your computer you could do it for free but they also have other options that are good to. I was able to call a friend of mine for really cheap this past year when he was in Russia.
How do I keep my business phone number after I move?
I own a small business and I keep getting relocated within the U.S. Because of this I have to change my business phone number and I am sure I am losing sales not to mention ticking off my current clients with an ever changing phone number. Can someone give me some advice as to how I should set up my business number so I don't have to change it all the time preferably without an 800 number? Thank you for your time in advance!
I would sign up with a Vonage business account, and you can keep your number wherever you go. You could also sign up with an International number from a variety of countries if you wish. It will work wherever you have a high-speed Internet connection.
How to forward A house phone to anothers house phone that is long distance?
How can it be done? Im trying to have a house phone forwarded to my house phone, its from Mississippi house phone to a Maryland House Phone. I need help, please help
If you are forwarding from Mississippi to Maryland, please be aware that you will incur toll charges for EVERY call that connects...that means that if your Maryland number has even an answering machine, your Mississippi number will have to pay long distance.
If you are moving from Miss to Maryland, there is a feature that you should consider: Remote Call Forwarding.
With this feature, your house phone will be disconnected at the residence in Mississippi, but will be forwarded from the phone company to the number in Maryland. You will still have long distance charges, but the forwarding will be more reliable than just the regular feature.
Also, this will be less expensive, because you will not have to maintain the phone line in Miss.
from the line that you want to forward...
dial *72 (or in some areas 72#) and wait for the stutter dial tone, then dial the number you want the call to be forwarded to (dial the number the way that it should be dialed, include 1+area code if needed)
when someone answers the phone that you are forwarding to the call forwarding is activated... if the phone is not answered, repeat this procedure a second time to confirm, then call forward will be active...
to remove the call forward dial *73 (or 73# in some areas) you will hear a stutter dial tone confirming your action...
if you get a busy signal, or error tone when dialing *72 (or 72#) then you may not be subscribed to the call forward feature, check with your local phone company to ensure that call forwarding is on the line that you wish to forward, and as you are forwarding long distance, find out what, if any, additional charges may be incurred for forwarding to a long distance number...
How do you transfer a phone # from one cell phone to another cell phone and still keep the same cell account?
II own the phones and brought the cell phones from the company that I have the account through. I just don't want to go through the hassle of waiting in line or being on the phone with someone for a long time.
u will need to call your carrier and reqiest a PAC code ((Port Authorisation Code) and then give to the carrier u are about to sign up to the will arange a way for u to start using the other carriers sim card with the same number. there's nothing else that u can do about it.
I don't think that you can do it yourself without entering them manually. But if you go in, it only takes a few seconds for them to transfer them. It might be quicker, even waiting in line then doing it yourself.
Where can I find restricted phones for someone that can't use a normal cell phone?
I have a sister that has a problem useing her phone the right way and me and my mother were woundering if any of u knew the best posible (besides a disney phone) that she could use.
Problems she has:
Text's random boys (can't turn the texting on her phone off- bc of phone company)
Call's people every minute or so.
If your going to be rude and say it's her fault...YES we know. We are working on that. But she needs to have a phone to call if she is in trouble, hurt, or whatever when she is driving.
Thanks for ur help!
They make one called a Firefly ( I think) it has 3 buttons, you designate 2 phone #'s and the third one is 911. Thats it. Probably the best option until she can control her texting, I'm old enough to know better and I can get carried away with texting but I pay the bill so I learn quickly! LOL
How do I get my phone numbers from my old phone onto my new phone?
I think I have to take it into a Sprint store, but I'm not sure. And should I charge up the new phone right now, or will that turn it on, activate it, deactivate my old phone, and I'll lose all my numbers? My old phone: Samsung A900, new phone: LG Lotus, and I'm with Sprint, if that info helps.
It's depend where have you save your number.Inside phone memory or SIM card? If you've saved in your phone memory,you've to copy all the number to your SIM card before you replace into a new phone.If you've saved inside SIM since you're using,just insert your SIM into a new phone.
I just changed to Sprint for T Mobile. I Krazer and now I have the New pink touch phone! While I was at Sprint I just gave them my T Mobile phone and they swiched all my numbers that I had saved to the sims card over and the ones that were not on the sims card I had to put on the new phone myself. Im not sure how much it cost to do it tho, i would not think no more than 10 dollars.
if you take it to the store they do something with the phone card that automatically transfers the numbers, do this before you deactivate the other phone cause if you deactivate it they charge you $20 to reactivate it........i found that out the hard way
sim card// its behind your battery(:
Go to sprint and ask for a data transfer it should be free =) haha. yep!
Can talking on a cell phone raise your body temperature?
My friend and I have noticed that we'll be really cold at work, but once we talk on a cell phone we suddenly get very hot. WTF? Can the radiation the cell phone emits cause our body temperature to rise? It's annoying, and we were'nt sure if there was a correlation or if it's just a coincidence.
According to recent study made in Germany, cell phones make minor increase in brain temperature (if you're not using a headset) but this increase is so minor that it is equivalent to few minute in the sun.
yes. either you have just charged it and it is pumped or you havent charged it in a while and it is ready to go dead.
YES..LOOK at my avatar!
They are more dangerous then you will ever know my dear! Trust me! I am in hiding for the rest of my life because of what I know about Cell Phones. A lot of my posts are jokes but take this one VERY seriously.
This has been a pretty controversial subject but it appears that there are a couple of reasons why the cell phone might raise the body's temperature. One is the simple, physical lifting and talking motion of the body which could cause a slight increase. Also some speculate that the electrical and/or magnetic fields emitted by cell phones my cause vascular (blood vessel) changes leading to increased body temperature. There has been NO true evidence that either one is true though. It doesn't appear that enough radiation is emitted to produce temp elevation but it is still being studied too.
Yes but very very slightly!
Maybe if you walk and talk or
if you left your cell in the car, it'd be hot do to the greenhouse effect,
or your mad at the person, or you've had stress from work and it's just you?
What's the difference between phone interview and an in person interview?
I'm applying for an accounting position and they require that I go in for an interview. But I've also heard that some only require a phone interview? Why do some require an in person interview and some only require a phone interview?
Thank you!
Usually accounting postions always require an in person interview. The management has frequent contact with their accountants and they want to be sure the prospective employee is the right fit for the job. Phone interviews are usually for short term consultant/contractor positions.
They are the same--except phone interviews you can do in your pajamas
How does an unlocked phone get activated onto a different network?
Like you see on Ebay and places I Phone Unlocked can be used on any network. Is this a scam or can these phones really be activated on Verizon Wireless.
When you talk to a Verizon agent they tell you that there is no way it can happen. Is this true.
Anybody claiming that the iPhone could work on Verizon Wireless is lying. Straight up.
Simple fact of the matter is:
iPhone is a GSM phone
Verizon is a CDMA network
They would never work together under their current configurations.
It is a scam, but the scam is on the phone companies (sprint/verizon) end, they could do it, but they do not want to, they want you to buy their cell phone. If you buy a GSM phone then it will work on att / tmobile / any gsm network.. All you have to do is place your sim card into the gsm phone and it will start working.. *****but if you buy a gsm phone make sure it is a quad band****** that way it is guaranteed to work on any gsm network in the world.
If you asking about the iphone, like a think you are. Then the short answer is no, it can not be activated on Verizon.
There are two different mobile phone technologies.
GSM - uses a SIM card (AT&T, Tmobile)
CDMA - no SIM card (Verizon, Alltel, Sprint)
These technologies are incompatable
Hi,
You asked, "How to find the owner of a phone number for free?
I have some background and experience with this, so I'll tell you what I know.
Have you typed the number (including area code) into Google, i.e. Googled it? That sometimes yields results. There are a few sites dedicated to tracking incoming phone numbers where users share information about what a number is, means, etc.
You might next try the free phone sites. A good choice is superpages.com.
Lastly, there are paid services. While this involves a fee, the information you get is much better. I have some background with findunlistedphones.com. I recommend it.
I hope that helps!
I placed an order over the phone in October, and paid for the slower shipping...it still arrived two or three days later. However, I ordered early in the week-since you ordered later in the week, the weekend might cause a delay.
at least 1-5 business days or a week but no later than that because i have tmobile 2!
the side kick lx will arrive 2-3 weeks depending on state. if your in hawaii or texas.
i got my phone within 4 day from when i bought it.
sometimes it might take 5-7 days
I dunno, 1-3 weeks?
How is someone else using my cell phone number to make marketing calls?
I keep getting calls from Califorinia from irate people who have received marketing calls from a home finance company offering services and my cell phone number is in their caller ID as the originating call. Cingular has no record of the calls being made and obviously I am not making them. I use my phone for business and do not wish to change the number, which is the only solution Cingular will give me. Any Ideas?
contact the attorney general in your state, the tellamarkerters have found a nother way of beating the systems {no call list} basically when they call you it comes up on the caller i,d, as somebody else so you answer the phone, but if you looked at the caller i,d, an it sayed tellamarketing you would not pick up the phone,,,,,,,, i know this cause when the phone rang the other day it sayed it was a lawyer out in vagas but it was a tellamarkter i called the number back an it was the secatary for the lawyer that was on my caller i,d. an she sayed they was getting hit hard with it to sooooo call the attorney general an file a complaint
{you need to change your number ,,,contact all your custumers an give them a new number an whenever you contact other people give them your new number}
thats impossible some must be doing it at home or something cuz u cant copy a sim card
What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?
The battery on my cell phone that i've had for approximately 2 years lasts about 10 minutes when fully charged. My last resort is buying a new battery. What can I do to make the battery life longer? It is a lithium ion battery in a kyocera cell phone.
If i do have to buy a new battery? How much would it cost me or would it be cheaper to just buy a new phone?
I've always heard that you should let your battery run all the way down, then charge it completely. Do this a few times. It's kinda like resetting the memory.
Make the backlight stay on at shorter time intervals (i.e. 5 sec instead of 10 sec).
Whenever I sign up for a new phone service, I always "sweet talk" the counter person into giving me an extra battery before I sign the contract. So I have a spare. Now, to get your battery to last longer, let the charge run completely dead, rub a strong magnet over the outside of the casings back side, sprinkle a pinch of salt over it while mumbling the incantation "back to life" ten times over the battery. This must be done at the darkest hour of the night also... Ok Ok.. just stop at the magnet and allow the battery to fully charge (24 hours) before putting it back in use. It should be much better than it was before. Now stop using it so much. :P
Haha. Looser. Then you probobly have a REALLY CHEAP PHONE. Ok so like c;mon man... TEN YEARS. no wonder. my answer --> GET A NEW PHONE YA BUM. :P
make sure it is completely discharged before recharging again. charge it up completely. A new battery is cheaper than a new phone (especially if you like yours.).. Also check your settings and keep things to a min/ like you said your back light. etc. Also drainage can happen because of your tower connection and the call you are making. If you are on digital it takes more batt power than normal setting. If you can surf the net this drains the battery too. Also if you roam a lot. As it is looking for a connection it will use more power.. these are all things to take in consideration.
btw.. it was recommended that i leave the charger on as long as possible and with my kyo there is no harm in overcharging these lion batts
make sure GSRM connection is at "when needed" instead if "always on" it just seems to help.
If you've had your current cell phone for 2 years, it is time for you to get a new cell phone. most cell carriers give you a new phone after a 2-year contract.
The problem can not be solved in anyway, there is no "training" your batter as people think.
The best way to go about it is to buy a new cell phone, b/c a new battery will cost you about $50, give or take. you may as well spend that amount towards a new phone, less hassle. b/c your new battery may present with the same problem you have now. so you would be back in the same position.
Well my phone is a new kyocera but I was having hte same problems so I got a new battery and the cost depends on the model; check with your company you have your contract through. Sometimes if you are still under contract you can upgrade to a new phone, which in the long road would be better because eventually you wont be able to buy parts for the old one.
I was recommended one trick though in keeping batteries lasting longer is to leave them on until they die. Then plug it in and let it charge for 10 hours. Turn it on and let it die again. You should do this 3 times.
If you do buy a new battery make sure you fully charge it before using it because that makes it last longer during usage.
you have to go out and buy a new one because you have most likely use the charging mechanism in it to much, I think your best bet is to go buy a new battery for like 20.00. You could of overcharged it to. Hey i have best anwser so rate me best thx.
I think you need to buy a new battery. I'm not familiar with shopping for cell phone batteries, but shop around online & maybe Circuit City. Also look at the mA-h ratings & buy the one with the bigger rating even though it will cost more. This way you may end up better than a new phone.
Once you've got a new battery, you can try to extend the life. First, if the charger is a cheapo unit, you can overcharge the battery. So don't leave it in the charge mode any longer than necessary. Second, batteries don't like excess heat. Try to keep the phone out of the sun or hot glove-boxes etc.
If you wait until your battery is almost completely dead before you re-charge it, it will last longer. Waiting until you have two or so bars left and then charging it actually decreases your battery life. When you do get a new battery, start charging it this way.
my advice for you is, when you charge your cell phone, do not overcharge your battery by leaving it on overnight, keep watching your cell phone until it is fully charge, in this way, you can make the life span of your battery longer, no it is much cheaper to buy new battery than buying new cell phones.
yOU SHOULD BE ALWAYS CONNECTED TO A CHARGER .
Get a new phone. I had a rental phone when mine was down, and it was kyocera, and they put a new battery on it for me, and it died so fast. Like, 24 hours on stand by. After that, with the new battery, kill it, then charge it for a full 24 hours. It stops charging automatically, so don't worry. leave it charging just to make sure. Do this 2 or 3 more times. This is if you get the old style of battery. New batteries are made like car batteries, where it doesn't keep a "memory" of how many times it's been charged
freeze them
Will my wet phone start working soon or should i get it fixed?
I asked the same question earlier and got some good responses. Place my phone in a bag with dry rice for about 2 hours but when i turned it on afterwards the screen was all white on the inside and outside screens. Is this a bad sign?
dry rice is the best thing. try keeping it in there for a longtime. if the screens are still white after there is nothing else to do but get a nnew phone
You need to try Silica Gel Packets. There was a good article on iphoneatlas.com that had lots of good reviews about how to dry a wet cell phones, iPods, etc. You need to place your cell phone in a zip lock bag with Silica Gel Packets. Silica Gel will remove all the moisture from the iPod and it's components, something air drying will not do!
Just Google "Silica Gel Packets" and you will find several companies selling these products. There is also a web site called: http://www.SilicaGelPackets.com that sells them.
When you say "all white" what do you mean? Was it white with water vapor covering the screen or like just white w/ backlight and no picture? Mine did that one time and i got mad and threw it on the ground and it magically started working again...but i dont suggest doing that >_<
I would say just wrap it in a washcloth or towel and shake it a few times then leaving it in the towel over night. Then try it the next morning. If it doesnt work then all i can say is send it back and get a new one. =S
It way take several weeks to fully dry out. Take the battery out and let it stand in a ventilated space for a week and see if it works then. I had a phone that I had given up for good when it was submerged but it came back to life after a couple of months.
if you got your phone wet it is most likely to be dead... if not, you are very lucky. my ipod got wet once, i left it under tin-foil for about thirty minutes to an one hour. i works for me... it might work work for you.
its rare to get a phone to work after its been wet, because the plasma gets mixed with the water and distorts it image
go to the company. specially if you have a warranty.
ya you should get it fixed.
Buy a new one!
What is the cheapest way to keep my phone number?
I have way too many phone bills. I have a land line, a business landline (I work from home) two cell phones and it's nonsense! Is there any ways to save on phone bills? I dont want to lose my numbers
You could get T-Mobiles HotSpot @ Home, which lets you have unlimited calling at home. You could cut out one of the cell phones too. So, you could have a cell phone as your home phone and a cell phone, and your business land line. To keep the cell number, wait til one of the contracts expires then take it to t-mobile.
What phone should I replace my Motorola Razr with?
Hey guys. I have a Razr from virgin mobile in Canada. I feel like it's time to replace the phone. I am wondering if anybody has any suggestions for which phone to move to. I'm not looking for a smartphone, or any "bells and whistles". I don't talk a lot on it and would not use features such a cameras, mp3 player, or email. I am looking for a "barebones" phone, but something that offers the thin and "sleekness" of the Razr. Any ideas?
LG Ux145 it has no external screen and no features
Or (i doubt u can find it now) LG Ux210 No camera No nothing but it did have an external screen
How do I use my unlocked phone with my current carrier?
This is a gift. My mother has a plan with Verizon. I don't want to extend that plan but give her this unlocked phone and make sure she can use this phone with her current plan.
If you have an unlocked phone, that phone would be a GSM phone. That phone is not compatible with Verizon service. Verizon works on CDMA technology, GSM works with a sim card, a CDMA phone does not. On a
side note, the only phones your mom can use with Verizon is a Verizon Branded phone. They will not activate any other CDMA phone
Cheers
call verizon and make sure you have the phone in front of you. There is an esn number under the battery and they will be able to change it.
just take the sim card out of her old phone and put it in her new phone (it's usually hidden under the battery)
How do you turn a Verizon phone into a Prepaid phone?
I bought a used Verizon cell phone that was originally with a plan. But the owners didn't pay their bill, so now i'm stuck with a non-working cell phone. Can anyone help me hack the phone? Like as in, turning it into a prepaid phone. I already called Verizon Customer Service but I can't find anyone who will help me get it changed to a prepaid phone. Can anyone help?
the phone may only be contrcutal, call Verizon give them the model number and they will tell you if you can make it prepais, if it statred out as a phone with a contratc it may only work with a contratc and not be pre pay capapble
Try Page Plus they will activate it as long as Verizon doesn't have it blacklisted.
Good Luck!
I'm sure there are other ways but this is how I do it
1. Store your email address as a contact
2. Send the picture to your email
3. Check your email and save the picture to the computer
To all you guys above me. I don't get the phone thing at all. lol
To the girl above me, lol is so irritating. lol.
Upload? If your phone has a bluetooth, then it should work with a blue tooth adaptor or an Infrared.
blue tooth, data cable & memory card reader... the direct ways to get ur pics outa ur cam.
The problem with camera phones is that when you capture a funny or special moment with your phone, it's unclear how to get photos from your phone to your computer. Many methods incur additional charges that you'd most likely rather not pay. Fortunately, there are usually a few different ways to get images off your phone for good.
E-mail
Most camera phones have the ability to send photos in the form of an email. Of course, this is the way wireless providers would like you to do it since they get to charge additional fees for sending the picture mail. Normally, wireless providers charge a flat rate to send a picture as an email through their network, but you could also be billed on a per-kilobyte rate for the data used.
To e-mail photos to yourself, you'll need to make sure your phone is configured to send e-mails. Most phones purchased from the carrier are setup out of the box, but you'll need to determine that on a per-case basis. The process for selecting an image to send will vary on the individual phone model, so refer to the instructions in your telephone manual for instructions. When you're ready to send the picture, place your e-mail address in the "To:" field, and hit send.
Bluetooth
If your phone is equipped with short-range Bluetooth wireless technology, you can often send images to a similarly equipped notebook or desktop computer. The best part about Bluetooth is that images transferred in this manner are completely free to you. Whether you send 1 picture or 50, it's still free. Not all phones are equipped with Bluetooth, but even less computers come with the technology built-in. However, you can add the technology to your computer by purchasing a USB Bluetooth module from a local electronics retailer. Don't worry about it being expensive, considering most modules retail for about $25.
Sending photos to a computer using Bluetooth is fairly simple... once you pair the phone to your computer. Sometimes the pairing process goes smoothly, and sometimes it doesn't. Either way, once you've gotten the two talking to each other, sending images to and from the phone is a snap. On top of this, Bluetooth allows you to send images and files to other Bluetooth phones without wires or charges.
Not all Bluetooth phones will be able to send images to a computer. Some carriers disable the file transfer profile before the phone is sent to the stores for sale, thereby forcing the users to either buy a data kit or send e-mails. This is what's referred to as the "no free lunch" approach to customer service. It's reasonable for them to assume that most would not spend fifty-dollars on an accessory, so they'll get to charge your account for every picture you send or make a monthly fee on a picture package.
Data Cable
Any phone that has a built-in camera will most likely be able to connect to a computer via a USB data connection kit. Data kits are phone specific, so you'll need to make sure you get the correct one for your model phone. The kit includes the cable that plugs your phone into your computer's USB jack, as well as software to assist in transferring files to and from the phone.
Once connected, you'll have the same file transfer abilities as you would with Bluetooth, except with a wire. Unfortunately, you cannot transfer images to anything but a computer, so don't expect to move a picture from your phone to a friend's. Though data connect kits are often more expensive than Bluetooth modules, they do transfer files at a faster speed.
Removable Memory Cards
Many newer phones have a slot for an external memory cards, especially models with higher resolution cameras. Since the images are stored on a removable memory card, transferring images to the computer is a breeze. All you need to do is pick up an external memory card reader from a local electronics store. You'll need to know what kind of card your phone uses before you go shopping to make sure the reader you buy supports the correct format.
Once your card reader is in place, merely remove the memory card from your phone, and insert it into the card reader. The computer will recognize the card and assign it a drive letter. Actually moving images is as easy as using the "cut and paste" commands in Windows Explorer. Just reinsert the card back into the phone when you're ready to take new pictures.
Can I change my Sprint cell phone number to a different Sprint phone?
I bought a Sprint Blackberry Pearl online at Ebay. I have a Sprint Razor, but it is an incredibly slow phone. I want to know if I can transfer my current Sprint number to my new Blackberry even though I didn't buy it at the Sprint store.
Absolutely, provided it wasn't previously reported lost or stolen. Call Sprint Customer Service (1-888-211-4727) from a different line (not the phone you're switching to or from) and tell the rep you want to do an "ESN swap." This is free of charge and usually takes about 5 minutes to complete (doesn't matter where you got the phone).
You should be prepared with the serial number to provide, which is the number on the back of the Blackberry behind the battery. It might be labeled "ESN DEC" or "IMEI" and it's all-numeric. If you have trouble locating that, just call and they will help. The rep will then walk you through programming the phone to get it activated.
Also let them know if you wanted to add a Blackberry plan, and you can also insure the phone if you want, even if it's from ebay.
does this change your plan in anyway?
or does it just mean you just have a different phone and everything stays the same? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080227104504AAxv6QH&kid=RrxaIFbuBHEMMno57X22&s=comm&date=2008-12-08+10%3A16%3A43&.crumb=
yes just call up sprint and tell them you want to change the ESN on your phone number and then give them the ESN. it is normally under the battery of the phone, they should be able to help you with that. they might charge you extra on your next bill for switching but at most would be $15 to $20 bucks
yes you can but your rebate will start over
How do I wire a existing phone line to become an extension on my main number?
I have two phone lines. The second line is not in service any more. I want to make the second phone line an extension of the first line. How do I connect the wires?
This answer assumes some things, primarily that your phone system is residential or small commercial, and does not have one of those huge boxes inside which has dozens of wires connected to terminals.
There may be a box outside (attached to ext. wall) your building which is the service entrance to your system. It may have an imprint with the name of a manufacturer (Western Electric, AT7T) or the name of your local telephone carrier. Open the door to that box. Inside you will see a small cable coming in from the street with several small gauge coated wires. You will also see a few sets of two terminals (the things the wires are wrapped around and tightened by screws).
The box will contain at least two sets of two terminals each, to each of which is attached one of those small gauge colored wires from the entrance cable, and another similar wire going into the building. One set of two terminals carries the signal of the phone line that works. The other set is for the line no longer in use.
Being careful to remember which wire is connected to which terminal (draw a diagram), remove the wires from one set of terminals. Then see if your phone works. If not, you know that those terminals control the live phone signal. If so, reconnect the wires and disconnect the wires to another set of terminals. Continue until you locate the controlling terminals.
Then disconnect the wires that lead from the other terminal/s into the building and connect them to the controlling terminals, one wire per terminal. What you will have accomplished is to connect all the phone jacks in the building to the controlling terminals.
This work is not as difficult to perform as it is to explain.
Telephone line current is small, so you don't have to worry about shock. But do not confuse the box with the electric power service entrance.
If in doubt, contact an office supply which sells small commercial multi-line telephone systems, adn ask for a referral to a qualified installer.
I do not think that there is an option to do this. This is simply because the Phone Service Providers do not give the general public the option to use any number they like as their phone extension or something.
If you want you can use the same number on two different phones but this does not still mean that you can use the second line. The one line that you have( the one that works ) can be split at the junction level to give you two separate lines with same phone number.
This would also mean that whenever someone calls your existing valid number , both the phones will ring simultaneously.
Purchase a splitter at an electronics store. is easy peezy, has instructions and everything.
Telephones communicate on a pair of wires. Your primary number will be on one pair of wires, & the 2nd number on a 2nd pair comming into your house. I am going to assume that you are in a single detached dwelling & not in an apartment where it could get a little more complicated.
The simplist way is to find the main connecting block (or demarcation point) in your house. Depending on when the 2nd line was installed in your home you may find a 2nd connecting block. Now since you don't have a lineman's test set (Butt set) you will need to determine the difference between your primary & 2nd phone lines, through trial & error. At the block carefully figure out which wires are comming in from outside, & which ones are going to the phone jack(s) in your house. You can usually do this by simply looking at them & tracing the direction that the wires go in. Another tip off is that the wires comming in from outside are thick & black in colour, while the ones for inside the house are smaller with either a Red, Green, Black, Yellow combination, or a White/Blue, & White/Orange combination.
Once you have identified the difference between the outside & inside wires, loosen the screws & disconnect all of the inside wires from the block. Pay attention as to which side of the block the wires came from, as you might want to get them back on the same terminal. Don't worry if you feel a little shock, it's only 50 volts DC & won't hurt you, especially if you can avoid grounding yourself while handling the wires.
After the wires are disconnected, go to the phone that you know was working, & pick it up. If you hear dialtone, then the wires you disconnected are for the 2nd line. If you don't hear dialtone, then you have just been working on the primary block.
Once you know the difference, you will be able to take all of the inside wires off of the 2nd phone line & connect them (in Parallell) to the primary phone line. Now with all of the inside wires connected to the primary block, you should be able to hear dialtone on both of your telephones instead of just one.
There are many ways to configure telephone wiring in a home or place of business, I have addressed the most common way that I have seen it done in my 35yr of experience. If any of this doesn't jive with your own place then you may have to re-ask your question or do a little more research before you mess up your phone service.
Here's another tip that should help. At phone jacks Red & Green are usually one pair (Often the primary) or the Blue/White pair. The 2nd line is usually on the Black & Yellow pair, or the Orange/White pair.
How do I wire a existing phone line to become an extension on my main number?
I have two phone lines. The second line is not in service any more. I want to make the second phone line an extension of the first line. How do I connect the wires?
This answer assumes some things, primarily that your phone system is residential or small commercial, and does not have one of those huge boxes inside which has dozens of wires connected to terminals.
There may be a box outside (attached to ext. wall) your building which is the service entrance to your system. It may have an imprint with the name of a manufacturer (Western Electric, AT7T) or the name of your local telephone carrier. Open the door to that box. Inside you will see a small cable coming in from the street with several small gauge coated wires. You will also see a few sets of two terminals (the things the wires are wrapped around and tightened by screws).
The box will contain at least two sets of two terminals each, to each of which is attached one of those small gauge colored wires from the entrance cable, and another similar wire going into the building. One set of two terminals carries the signal of the phone line that works. The other set is for the line no longer in use.
Being careful to remember which wire is connected to which terminal (draw a diagram), remove the wires from one set of terminals. Then see if your phone works. If not, you know that those terminals control the live phone signal. If so, reconnect the wires and disconnect the wires to another set of terminals. Continue until you locate the controlling terminals.
Then disconnect the wires that lead from the other terminal/s into the building and connect them to the controlling terminals, one wire per terminal. What you will have accomplished is to connect all the phone jacks in the building to the controlling terminals.
This work is not as difficult to perform as it is to explain.
Telephone line current is small, so you don't have to worry about shock. But do not confuse the box with the electric power service entrance.
If in doubt, contact an office supply which sells small commercial multi-line telephone systems, adn ask for a referral to a qualified installer.
I do not think that there is an option to do this. This is simply because the Phone Service Providers do not give the general public the option to use any number they like as their phone extension or something.
If you want you can use the same number on two different phones but this does not still mean that you can use the second line. The one line that you have( the one that works ) can be split at the junction level to give you two separate lines with same phone number.
This would also mean that whenever someone calls your existing valid number , both the phones will ring simultaneously.
Purchase a splitter at an electronics store. is easy peezy, has instructions and everything.
Telephones communicate on a pair of wires. Your primary number will be on one pair of wires, & the 2nd number on a 2nd pair comming into your house. I am going to assume that you are in a single detached dwelling & not in an apartment where it could get a little more complicated.
The simplist way is to find the main connecting block (or demarcation point) in your house. Depending on when the 2nd line was installed in your home you may find a 2nd connecting block. Now since you don't have a lineman's test set (Butt set) you will need to determine the difference between your primary & 2nd phone lines, through trial & error. At the block carefully figure out which wires are comming in from outside, & which ones are going to the phone jack(s) in your house. You can usually do this by simply looking at them & tracing the direction that the wires go in. Another tip off is that the wires comming in from outside are thick & black in colour, while the ones for inside the house are smaller with either a Red, Green, Black, Yellow combination, or a White/Blue, & White/Orange combination.
Once you have identified the difference between the outside & inside wires, loosen the screws & disconnect all of the inside wires from the block. Pay attention as to which side of the block the wires came from, as you might want to get them back on the same terminal. Don't worry if you feel a little shock, it's only 50 volts DC & won't hurt you, especially if you can avoid grounding yourself while handling the wires.
After the wires are disconnected, go to the phone that you know was working, & pick it up. If you hear dialtone, then the wires you disconnected are for the 2nd line. If you don't hear dialtone, then you have just been working on the primary block.
Once you know the difference, you will be able to take all of the inside wires off of the 2nd phone line & connect them (in Parallell) to the primary phone line. Now with all of the inside wires connected to the primary block, you should be able to hear dialtone on both of your telephones instead of just one.
There are many ways to configure telephone wiring in a home or place of business, I have addressed the most common way that I have seen it done in my 35yr of experience. If any of this doesn't jive with your own place then you may have to re-ask your question or do a little more research before you mess up your phone service.
Here's another tip that should help. At phone jacks Red & Green are usually one pair (Often the primary) or the Blue/White pair. The 2nd line is usually on the Black & Yellow pair, or the Orange/White pair.
What is the best basic cell phone available for Cingular?
I currently have a motorola V557 that shuts itself off and freezes up. I need a phone to make calls with and store phone numbers and addresses. Big buttons would be nice. Big numbers in the display would be nice as I normally need bifocals to read. Can anyone help?
The nokia 6010 or the LG CU400.
The Nokia gets great reception, and the phone itself is very durable.
The LG gets good reception and also has big buttons. It's not exactly basic, but it's easy to use.
I don't know if it's out yet, but look into it. I'd like to get this for my Mom.
How does one set up the hands free phone in a 2007 toyota camry?
I have a 2007 camry equipped with hands free phone capability. The system tells me to Pair the Phone and to hook the phone to system. How do I do this?
Your phone needs to have bluetooth. Go through your phone untill you find this option and then have it do a search it should recgonize the car and should work after that.
Your phone has to have Bluetooth capability. You can get pairing instructions at toyota.letstalk.com. You'll need to enter the year of your vehicle, model and if it has navigation. Then you'll select the phone manufacture and wireless provider. Hopefully your phone will appear and you can get pairing instructions.
How can I hook up or doitmyself wiring for 2 phone lines for my home?
I have a home phone line with Bell Canada. I called them and they said that I can get an extra line (meaning a new number for a faxes) which is exactly what I want. However, Bell is telling me that I have to pay $99 dollars for installation , meaning a technician has to come to my house and somehow split the phone line jacks. Now, I want to save myself this $99 dollar fee, I'm a handyman, so I want to do this myself? Does anybody know how to do this? Just for your information, I'm getting a separte phone number just for the fax machine, and it's not a upgraded fax number that uses the same phone line as the house number.
Assume not, for Canada!! It is exactly the same. Red & Green are the ring & tone for your first line, Black & Yellow are for the second line. Run them to two separate jacks, and you have two separate lines after Bell activates your 2nd line.
That's what I used to do for a living!!
In the US (and I'll assume Canada as well...) the second line is already installed. unscrew the jack from the wall and you will see 4 wires, red and green on top, yellow and black on bottom. Yellow and black are your second line. Buy yourself a $3 Two line faceplate, attach red and green to the top two screws of the top plug and yellow and black go on the top two screws of the bottom plug and VIOLA! second line. It won't work until you tell them to start charging you, but you'll save yourself $99.
although i'm in britain, dare say it is the same. to get a seperate phone line, even if pre-fitted, they will still charge. fact of life unfortunately.
How to get a cell phone in the US that can read foreign-language text messages?
I want to buy a GSM phone that will allow me to read, and hopefully also write, Hebrew text messages in my visits to Israel.
Sounds simple, right? My tri-band Motorola C650 works fine voice-wise, but Hebrew characters show up as black bars. I also called Nokia, and after some information-digging was told that no Nokia phones sold in the US support anything besides English and Spanish.
SMS is always universal Unicode, and phone manufacturers are global, so this situation seems rather stupid. Is there any other choice other than purchase the phone in Israel? Affordable phones that do come with real Unicode support? Firmware flashing? Other ideas?
All Nokia phones can do that
How do you send a picture to another phone if you have a sprint mogul?
I've tried to send a picture from my Sprint Mogul to another phone, but it won't let me, I'm only allowed to send to e-mail accounts, so my question is, is there any possible way to send pix from phone to phone?
Thanks in advance.
From that phone you have to attach the picture to an email to be able to send them. That phone is not picture mail capable.
Sprint picture mail is now available for mogul http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20071224065216AAKcMVA&kid=RZ5QGTHnL04IX9DNIL4W&s=comm&date=2009-03-30+15%3A21%3A05&.crumb=
I had the PPC-6700(The older version of this phone) And this option is not offered for this phone. The only was is to send them to an email.
What do you enter when when you are masking your phone number when calling someone else?
To make you phone number anonymous on another's caller ID, what do you enter? And in what order: before dialing the phone number, while dialing a phone number, or after dialing a phone number.
I think it's *87 or something like that.
*67 will make your number Private...it will show on their caller id as private, or unknown.
Before you dial the number you intend to call press *67 then the number. that should do it (:
How does a phone call by a hearing impaired person work?
Does the person on the receiving end of a phone call by a hearing impaired person talk louder, turn on a loudspeaker,or what?
it depends.
phones need to be hearing aid compatable, that is, the coil in the hearing aid is activated by the coil in the phone receiver.
If the person is totally deaf, then the phone is TTY or Teletype.
A TTY operator intercepts a voice call and types to the deaf person, the deaf person types back and the operator voice to the caller.
How to copy text messages from one phone to another?
I recently just got a new phone. I switched the SIM cards out hoping that all of my text from my previous phone would still be on there. To my surprise, they weren't! But there were text on there from another phone I had a while ago. Is there a way to copy the text from my previous phone to my current one? Both phones do have a SD Card if that helps. The previous phone is a T-Mobile SDA and my current phone is T-Mobiles The Shadow.
Thanks!
put text messages in sd card. then put in the other phone.
hopefully that should work.
Forward the text to another cell, then resend to your new phone. You cannot copy to the sd card.
What is the best basic cell phone with the best reception?
I need a cell phone with really good reception. I don't need all the frills like camera, music, etc. I have verizon and my phone used to never drop calls, now it drops them all the time. Suggestions?
depends on where you live.
have some friends over and check their "bars"
i got best service from verizon in my area.
Alltel or nokia. A friend of mine had a virgin mobile and had all sorts of problems with it.
I HAVE THE PERFECT WEBSITE FOR YOU!!
This site has calling plans and phones from all of the major carriers, so you can compare all of them. I used this when I bought my last phone. Everything is easily done online, no store employee trying to make you get a more expensive plan. Cingular has the best overall reception.
Nextel and Sprint each have $30 calling plans on this site but the best part is that 75% of the phones on the site are free with a new plan.
CHECK IT OUT
switch to virgin mobile that's what I've had for about three years now and they haven't dropped a call yet
Cheap way to phone a cell phone in the united kindgom from the states?
I met a guy when I was in london and phoning each other has become extremely expensive. Is there a way to make a call to a united kingdom cell phone for cheap? Everything i see is only for land line phones. Suggestions greatly appreciated!
T-Mobile has an international monthly payment which for a small monthly payment allows you to call cell to cell for approx 20 cents/minute.
You can always install go2call.com on your PC and then using a headset(can be done without if your PCs mic and speakers are good enough) you can call the UK for 3 cents per minute
IP phone sevice through you PC cheapest way I know of for international calls
How old do I have to be before I can get my own cell phone and cell phone plan?
My father is totally anti-cell phone. He says they're not necessary and to a certain extent he's right but I really have had times where I needed a phone and didn't have one. No matter what I say or do he won't get me a phone.
I will be 16 next March and I will probably be getting a job by then, so would I be old enough to get my own cell phone plan and cell phone? How old do I need to be? Please help. Thanks.
If you want to have a contract based cell phone plan you will most likely have to be 18. However, you can always buy a prepaid cellphone. If you're unfamiliar with prepaid cellphones the way it works is usually like this: you buy the cellphone, a sim card, and minutes that come on a gift-card like thing. Depending on the carrier you can use the money you spend on the card for minutes or texts.
At places like Target, BestBuy, Walmart etc. they sell cellphones along with a starter kit which includes the sim card and a card with minutes (for some phones).
They're priced anywhere between $20 and $100, and then every now and then you buy new minutes.
Good luck!
The age varies between 16 and 18 depending on where you are.
I would suggest going with a prepaid phone -- you can definitely get one at 16 and since you are paying for it your dad should have no issue.
The phones are like $40 and the plans are whatever you can afford to put on it each month.
Let dad know it is safer if you have a phone but beware, he will call you on it a lot once you do get one =)
Definitely! I still don't have a phone either, but i'm planning to gather up lots of problems of the past, and then blast all of them in my parents face that they are cornered and HAVE to buy me one. I suppose you could try to stop asking or show responsibility or maybe even give little hints of needing one without saying it directly! I'm on the path to a cell phone, not even caring what kind, just that i get one! I have a feeling you have the same problem as me! We shall pull through this together!
I think most cell phone companies you have to be 18 to get your own plan. But my dad was the same way. He thought the were not necessary. But talk to him about a pay as you go plan. It's prepaid and you buy refill cards and add minutes to your phone and there is no contract. Hope this helps!
Well you can have a mobile phone on contract at any age i'm 13 and i have one but its not me that pay for it.
I'm not sure about the US but i'm sure by 16 you can legally get a ohone on contract.
Why don't you use pay monthly or pay as you go any age can use that
You have to be 18 to sign a contract by yourself. Since most cell phone companies require contracts, you will have to wait until then.
i have a phone and im under 10
if i was your father i will say about 17 or 18
How do I get my home phone number listed under a different name?
When signing up for new phone service, I would like to have my number listed in the directory under a ficticious name for security reasons and only give it out to certain people. Is this possible. Would the phone company ask for ID?
if you have a Ma'Bell landline, you have the right to "use"any name you choose! only your billing name go to be correct!...I have will my service the choice of changing my name all by myself, via my computer log-on!....with VoIP packet8...I just love this feature...
You need I.D. before Any Listing can be undertaken!
How does the company know who you are without Correct and Current I.D. ?
How can I transfer videos from a cell phone to a computer?
The phone has Bluetooth and an infrared port, the computer has neither. I can't do anything that involves connecting to the internet on the phone. The videos are 3gp format. I have a PDA, and I have sent pictures to it from the phone and transferred them to the computer from it, but it dosen't recognise the format of the videos.
For transfering videos from your phone to the computer:
======================================...
Buy a bluetooth usb dongle for your computer. Then connect it to the usb port on your computer and install necessary software for file transfer. Then connect your phone to the computer via bluetooth
and send files to the computer.
For play-back of 3gp files on your computer:
======================================...
Ordinary windows Media-Player, WinAmp and other players don't have codecs of 3gp with them.
For play-back of 3gp files, you could use Apple QuickTime player or Windows Media-Player Classic (KLM Codec pack).
For play-back of 3gp files on your P.D.A:
What determines the kind of cell phone service in an area?
Someone told me that all the cell phone providers share the same towers(?) and that whether you have service or how strong / good the signal is at a particular location depends more on the phone that you have. Can someone explain?
well phone reception will vary by model, usually nokias and motorolas have a reputation for having the best reception, but individual companies need their own liscences to give service in any given area, and sometimes more than one company will put their equipment on the same tower, but when a company uses another companies tower thats usually considered roaming
1. Where ever you move i.e from one country to another your phone will automatically find the network service for you phone. For example, your mobile usually has your country's operator logo at the top, when you fly to another country, you will find your phone operator name has changed to that country's operator logo. The cell connects directly to another network within the location you are. Some countries only have one operator while others may have several.
2. I think having a good signal depends on the range of your phone. Some phone will work in some countries and some might not- depends on their range. You have to discuss these issues with the sales man when you buy the phone or research the technology on the net further. You can also see specifications and features for each mobile phone on their official websites-some of the websites go into detail about how mobiles work etc and how each feature is important.
The signal of your phone can sometimes be affected by various interferences, such as passing under a bridge or moving in a car ( sometimes)-- depends.
FirstBase is right. To add to it. Every provider has different technologies and frequencies, these determine how far they can provide good signal strength. So some providers may be on the same towers but not all of them. Also budgeting and objectives are different with carriers, some may not build out in rural areas, some have deals with other carriers to roam onto another carriers network. This is why some carriers may be better than others in certain locations. The phone, as was mentioned, each has different performance.
Hi there.....
Your cell phone reception is determined on quite a few variables. First, how close you are to the nearest cell site is primary. Most of the larger cell companies don't actually own their own sites, but lease tower space from third-party companies (in that way, one tower can actually provide service for as many as 4-5 different companies). This is particularly true in larger cities where zoning regulations and space to put up new towers are most restrictive. But that's not the only consideration. Some phones are more sensitive to signal than others (in my experiences Nokia and Motorola are better with signal, but other companies do well also). Another important consideration is geography. It's harder to get signals in mountainous areas than flat land. Signals bounce wildly off of water masses, so reception is very unpredictable in the middle of a lake. Finally, buildings can also reflect signal in strange ways, so being in a large metro downtown with lots of glass buildings can be problematic depending on where the company's closest cell site is and what it has to go through to get to your phone.
Hope this helps!
How to send and receive texts from computer to cell phone?
My cell phone recently died. Until I can get it fixed, I was wondering if there was a way to send texts from my computer to other peoples cell phones, and they can reply and I'd get it on my computer?
I know you're able to send txts to cell phones on AIM and stuff by messaging +1 then the area code and number. But that's only one way I think, and they can't reply to it. So is there anyone way I can do it that sends AND receives txt's from computer to cell phone?
You have to have windows live messenger, the numbers of the people you want to text, and their e-mail. When your on windows live add your friends e-mail, then right click on heir name and click add phone number. then if they are offline you can send them a message to thier cellphone.
You can do reverse calls from the internet. When I want to check on a reverse call I usually check out this site I found reverse call search. I dont know how to use it with text messages though.
Hope it helps.
Hello Matt,
You can use AIM or Y!M to send both the IM messages as well as the SMS messages. I’m not sure which is more expensive.
