How to retrieve and transfer stored phone numbers from a dead phone to a new one:?

I replaced my cell phone and now am told it is impossible to retrieve all the numbers I have stored in my old phone? Is this accurate info from Verizon store? My old phone no longer takes a charge.

Doesn't matter if it is charged if you can pull out your memory card and slide it into your new phone?! uh oh if you don't have a memory card the numbers are gone - unless you can find a battery from another phone to use. Maybe they will let you borrow one at the Verizon store.

If there is no way to get your phone turned on, and if your numbers weren't stored to your sim card, then unfortunately there is no way to get your numbers back.
