How does the Go phone unlimited talk and text work?

I heard about this phone but what do you do, so do you just buy the phone for say at walmart, do you have to do a contract with Cingular/AT&T and have a monthly bill, because it says 19.99 for a go phone, I have no idea, I just saw it on the tv. Mind helping me out if you have one or know anything??

Unlimited talk can mean a few different things. One place AT&T mentions unlimited talk is with the unlimited mobile to mobile (unlimited talk to the largest mobile network). This is available both on Pay as you Go GoPhone ($1 per day you use your phone), and on Pick Your Plan GoPhone (similar to contract rate plans, without the contract, unlimited mobile to mobile starting at $40/mo). In addition, there is a GoPhone Pick Your Plan "Unlimited Talk" rate for $70/mo which has unlimited nights and weekends as well as mobile to mobile.

Unlimited text messaging can be added to GoPhone Pick Your Plan for $20/mo. It is not available on Pay as you Go.

GoPhone does NOT have a contract. You pay for your airtime in advance. If you have Pay as you Go, you have to refill your account as you run out of minutes/money, but they also have expiration dates which vary from 30 days (for $10 card) to 1 year (for a $100 card) depending on how much money you add. Pick your Plan is just like contract plans except you pay in advance. For either, you can set up the account to automatically debit a major credit card so you never run out of minutes.

Phones can actually be free if you catch the right promo at the right time and don't mind refurbished phones. If you sign up through DealKing you can get a GoPhone free after rebate.
