Why would a Verizon cell phone that is being billed by Verizon, when searched say Cingular is the carrier?

The phone is a Verizon phone and it was bought at Verizon, but when you do a cell phone look up, it comes back saying it belongs to the New Cingular Wireless, PCc. Lls, I think that is it. Could that phone have internet service from AT&T being used on it? Can that Verizon cell phone number be used on both a Verizon phone and an AT&T phone?

AT&T has never bought out Verizon. They aren't compatible because Verizon uses one cell technology and AT&T uses a worldwide standard. You can only have one cell phone number for one carrier unless you use GrandCentral which allows you to have only one number.

So I'd just say Verizon is doing your billing and is the carrier.

okay the first guy is wrong verizon bought out Alltell nobody ever bought verizon out... and the phone mite be flashed or something... cingular bought out at&t

Cingular bought out Verison.
