How do I change my mobile phone provider and unlock the phone to accept other provider?

I am currently with Vodaphone but cannot get a signal in my own house or at my place of work. I have tried putting in an O2 sim card but the phone only seems to accept the vodaphone sim card. Is there any way to unlock the phone to accept O2? The phone is a Motorola KZR,

Thanks Joe

You will need to get the phone unlocked. I used teh site below to unlock my v3x, which other sites said was unlockable. You just download teh software, input yer IMEI number (on back of phone) and it generates an unlock code. You type the unlock code into yer phone and hey presto! unlocked.

Hi Joe,

Phones have what they call crystals. The crystals are only set up to accept the original carrier. If you need it to accept something else, you would have to take it to the service department for them to change the crystal in it. In most cases it is cheaper to just get another phone for the provider needed.

To put it in english (ex: you can't make a sprint phone work on a verizon network) without changing the crystals.
