Is there a way to buy a new Cingular phone without adding a service plan?

I broke the outside of my Nokia phone that i purchased in January. It still works and makes calls but I want a new phone and not the same one. Is there a way to just buy a phone at the regular price without the plan? Has anyone bought an unlocked phone off e-bay? Does it work with Cingular sim cards? Help!

yes at any time Cingular will let you purchase a new phone at the no commitment pricing anytime in your contract and it will not extend your current contract or change anything on your account except for the imei #. just make sure you purchase insurance for an additional $3.99 a month, that way if anything happens to the new phone you can replace it for a $50 deductible. also, make sure when you purchase the new phone have them update the imei # in their system ESPECIALLY if you purchase the insurance, or they will only cover the phone that is showing on your account, also i would recommend going to a cingular company owned store, less problems and less hassles. if you don't know where one is call 611 from your phone and ask a customer care rep, they will be able to locate one for you.

the only phone that i no of that you can buy as long as you have an active phone plan already and just want to change the sims card from one phone to another is nextel phones i have a nextel phone and i can buy another nextel phone and just take the sims card out and put it into the new phone and it will work. if you just need a new back most malls have cell phone booths set and you can purchase stuff for your phone.you should be able to do it with your sims card as well, you can check with customer service to double check.

You can go to any RadioShack and buy a phone at their unactivated price... anywhere from $200 to about $350. I dont know if you can do that at a Cingular store tho.
