How do I start using a new Unlocked cell phone?

This is my situation. I have a current Verizon phone. I now want a new Motorola phone that normally doesn't provide service to Verizon. It's an unlocked phone though, so all I have to do is switch the SIM card from my Verizon phone to my new Motorola phone? Is that all it takes?

Verizon doesn't use SIM cards. Verizon is on the CDMA (Closed Division Multiple Access). Sprint is also CDMA.

Cingular and T-Mobile use SIM cards because they are on the GSM network.

Try taking your phone to T-Mobile or Cingular, it won't work with Verizon or T-Mobile.
